- Šabac and its surroundings suffered a tragic degree of destruction and counted vast numbers of casualties in both World Wars
- The first big battle of the Great War in this territory was the famous Battle of Cer (15/16 – 20 August 1914)
- At the time of the liberation on November 2nd, 1918, Šabac was all but completely destroyed and had lost a huge number of its citizens
- At the beginning of the Second World War, on April 13th, 1941, the German army launched an attack on Šabac. This was followed by a four-year period of enemy occupation
- On October 20th, 1944, the enemy units withdrew from Šabac into Srem
