• The Modern Gallery is founded on the 1970 donation of 60 artworks by Lepa Perović and her husband Koča Popović.
• This legacy became the basis for the first exhibition “Contemporaries” and the cultural development of Lazarevac.
• The collection later expanded to include a contemporary art section and a naïve art fund.
• Since 2002, the Gallery has had a permanent exhibition space.
• The legacy includes works by artists from former Yugoslavia, covering styles such as coloristic expressionism, poetic realism, intimist painting, and postwar avant-garde trends.
