- Sahat Gate serves as the main entrance to the Upper Town.
- It was built just after the Austrians conquered the city in 1688.
- Although the gate was built first, it was named after Sahat Tower, which was constructed above it in the middle of the 18th century.
- Sahat Tower is one of the rare structures within Belgrade Fortress that has never suffered any major damage.
- Sahat Tower – which is actually a clock tower – is 27.5 m tall.
- The clock functions using a central mechanism and weights, as well as two gongs.
