- The Salon of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Belgrade was opened in 1961 at 14 Pariska Street under the name of Modern Gallery.
- The salon started off four years before the Museum of Contemporary Art at Ušće was opened.The exhibition practice of the Salon has always been focused on younger artists and the most current artistic tendencies, as well as on presenting the work of prominent foreign artists.
- The concept behind the Salon still revolves around presenting the most up-to-date currents in visual arts, most of all through solo exhibitions of contemporary artists, national and foreign, but also through organised presentations, panel discussions and lectures.
