  • The Church of the Birth of the Virgin Mary, known as the Church of the Holy Virgin, was built in the second half of the 18th century, for the needs of the Serbian and Greek communities in Zemun.
  • The construction lasted from 1774 to 1779, and the Church was consecrated in 1780.
  • The bell tower was erected in 1794 and was only slightly lower than the tower of the nearby Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The first bell, which was set up in 1815, illustrated the victory over Napoleon.
