  • The Ethnographic Museum, located in the very center of the city, was founded in 1901 when the Ethnographic Department was separated from the National Museum of Serbia. It is one of the oldest museums in Serbia.
  • The first permanent exhibition of the Museum was organized in 1904, presenting the collected objects of ethnographic heritage from the entire area of the Balkan Peninsula. Today, the permanent exhibition named “Folk Culture of Serbs in the 19th and 20th Centuries” is arranged on three levels of the museum building.
  • The Museum building was constructed during 1933 and 1934, and it was designed by architect Aleksandar Đorđević. It was built for the needs of the former Belgrade Stock Exchange.
