- In the center of the Circular square a stone support is found on which once stood a statue of the emperor Justinian I, the founder of the city.
- Around the square are many buildings of cultural, legal, commercial and public significance.
- The Basilica with its crypt stands out from the buildings around the square, located on its north-eastern side.
