- The school building was erected in 1906. It was projected by Jelisaveta Načić.
- Načić was the first Serbian female architect.
- At the time of its construction, this was the most modern building designed for primary school education, not only in Belgrade but in the whole of Serbia.
- The school itself was founded back in 1718, so it is also the oldest school in Serbia.
- The founder of the school was Metropolitan Mojsije Petrović, who brought the first teachers from Russia. The teaching foundations were laid by Vuk Stefanović Karadžić, who also worked as a teacher in this school.
- An interesting fact is that in 1923, the first basketball game in Belgrade was played in the yard of this school.
