  • Šabac was first granted the right to hold a fair which primarily fulfilled a trading function
  • The first reference to the tradition of organizing fairs in the area of Šabac dates back to the 14th century and is found in the Charter of Serbian Prince Lazar
  • During the 19th century, two fairs were held in Šabac – on the Feasts of St. George and St. Demetrius
  • At the beginning of the 20th century, a fair was introduced on the Feast day of the Nativity of Theotokos
  • After the Second World War, the only the fair to continue was that on the Nativity of Theotokos. It officially lasts for three days, from 21st to 23rd of September
