- The sundial was painted around 1850 on the wall of a former Franciscan monastery by Professor Jovan Čokor from Sombor
- He wanted to leave a permanent mark in the city, but also to take revenge on his fellow citizens who had banished him. He left a sarcastic message in Serbian and Hungarian saying “One of these is your last,” wanting to remind them of the transience of life and its inevitable end
- The sundial in Sombor is the only clock of its kind preserved in Serbia, painted using a fresco technique with Baroque symbolism of that time
