- From Tower 3, you can best see the ramparts surrounding the Fortress. Around the Fortress was an outer rampart built at the same time as the Fortress. The outer rampart is 1.5m away from the walls of the towers and about 8m from the walls of the ramparts. This way, four large rings were connected to each other by narrow passages. Outside the outer rampart is a dry moat, about 8m wide
