  • The block of civic houses in Knez Mihailova Street at numbers 46, 48 and 50, was created in the late 1870s. The houses are distinctive in terms of architectural content, purpose and manner. They were designed in the then modern spirit of historical styles, mostly with elements of romanticism and academicism.
  • These houses were among the first buildings erected in the street designed by urbanist Emilijan Josimivić’s plan from 1867.
  • The creation of this block of houses marks the break with traditional Balkan architecture and the acceptance of contemporary European building styles, as a reflection of social and cultural change.
  • The block consists of the house of Hristina Kumanudi at number 50, Krstina mehana at number 48 and Veljko Savić’s house at number 46.
  • Heritage House Belgrade is located today in the building at number 46.
