  • Project for the Church of St. Alexander Nevski in Dorćol was made by Jelisaveta Načić, the first female architect in Serbia.
  • The construction began in 1912, but in September of the same year it was stopped to the World War One. The Second Balkan War and the First World War prevented further construction of the church, and the works were completed only between 1928 and 1929.
  • The architectural solution of Jelisaveta Načić underwent minor changes in cooperation with architects Petar J. Popović and Vasili Androsov.
  • The church was built in the image of the Serbian medieval churches in the style of Morava school. The marble iconostasis was donated to the church by King Aleksandar Karađorđević in 1930.
