- The formation of the ethnographic collection began with the foundation of the museum itself in 1952. In this year, the museum received one of its more valuable items of Serbian urban clothing. Known in Serbian as a “libade,” this is a type of ceremonial petticoat worn by the bride at traditional Serbian weddings.
- When the Department of Ethnology was established in 1965, so began the systematic study of the region’s traditional culture and the forming of the ethnographic collection. This includes objects from the territory of Kruševac itself, as well as from a much wider anthropogeographic region that includes part of Temnić and West Pomoravlje, Rasina, the villages at the base of Kopaonik mountain, and the area of Župa near Aleksandrovac.
- The ethnological collection, with about 6,000 registered items, is nowadays divided into urban and rural cultural sections.
