  • The Museum of Vuk and Dositej in Gospodar Jevremova Street is a memorial museum, dedicated to two greats of Serbian culture – the educator and the first Serbian Minister of Education Dositej Obradović and the reformer of the Serbian language, Vuk Karadžić.
The Museum is located in a house that was built in the first half of the 18th century and architecturally represents an example of a Balkan-style house of that time.
  • The Museum building has changed its purpose and owners several times, and between 1809 and 1813, the Belgrade Higher School, founded by Dositej Obradović, was located in it. This was the first institution in Serbia providing higher education. Subsequently, the
  • Higher School evolved into the University of Belgrade.
  • The Museum of Vuk and Dositej has been governed by the National Museum of Serbia, since 1979.
