- The current-day Chapel of St. Petka was erected in 1937 on top of a spring, which has been associated with worshiping St. Petka since medieval times. It is considered a holy place for all believers.
- The former chapel was erected in medieval times when the remains of this saint were brought to Belgrade, as requested by Princess Milica.
- Ružica Church was erected in 1867 to serve as a military temple. The church was dedicated to celebrating the birth of the Virgin Mary.
- It’s a popular belief that during medieval times there used to be a church of the same name at the site where Ružica Church sits today, but there is no proof of this legend.
- The church was severely damaged during World War One in 1915. It was thoroughly reconstructed in 1925, when it got its current look.
